The Final Fanasy series is a fantasy RPG video game series developed by Square-Enix. with a huge fanbase the final fantasy series is one of the most recognized video game series ever. A specific fan favorite is the 7th main Installment; Final Fantasy VII which recently got a remake for the Playstation 4 and 5. Final Fantasy VII was released on January 31st 1997 for the Playstation One. It was an immediate hit and sold 2.000.000 (2 million) copies in the first 3 days alone. the image above is the Box art for the game.
The game's story follows Cloud Strife, a mercenary who joins an eco-terrorist organization to stop a world-controlling megacorporation from using the planet's life essence as an energy source. Events send Cloud and his allies in pursuit of Sephiroth, a former member of the corporation who seeks to harm the planet. During the journey, Cloud builds close friendships with his party members, including Aerith Gainsborough, who holds the secret to saving their world.
Final Fantasy VII was a revolutionary game. It pioneered new technology such as pre rendered cutscenes on a disc and that was special at the time because it was the very first game to do so. Furthermore the Story for FFVII was superb and, in my opinion, unparalleled. Beyond that the gameplay is immersive and Final Fantasy VII has a battle system like no other. Though there is one element of that game that partially makes it what it is: the Music. The Music for FFVII slaps. Composed by Nobuo Uematsu, the OST is enjoyable and catchy. There have been so Many big advances in video games especially in the graphics department. the PS1 had 640 x 480 resolution. We can now have 7680 x 4320 (8k) which is a massive difference. However the remake isn't just a reboot of the story, it has the same basic premise, but so much is changed. it deviates away from the original and according to the director "it's a re-imagining of the story.". the Final Fantasy VII Remake is it's own story and takes elements and inspiration from the 1997 version, but no more than that. both the original and the Remake are absolutely worth playing if you have an extra 45-60 hours per game.
Square-Enix, the company is one of the most popular video game companies. they have created some of the most iconic serieses such as the Kingdom Hearts franchise, the Tomb Raider franchise, all of the Dragon Quest games, and of course the Final Fantasy franchise. Having developed lots of gaming sensations you would think that something more recent would have sold the most units or even have raked in the most dough, but no. Final Fantasy VII, a game from 1997 still holds the crown for both of those titles among Square-Enix games. The list below shows the top 10 Square-Enix games

Furthermore the Final Fantasy franchise has made over $12,905,000,000 ($12.905 billion) for Square-Enix NOT accounting for Inflation. Accounting for Inflation that adds up to over $18,816,000,000 ($18.816 billion) Made by the Final Fantasy franchise alone. And thats not Including "Space Invaders" also made by Square-Enix.
