Horse showing is a very complex sport, there are many different disciplines and areas of showing.
A very common one is jumpers, ( click here to see a photo ) jumpers is all about the speed of the horse, and not knocking any rails down. In jumpers, we measure the jumps in meters and inches, for example 1.40 m or 90 inches.
Another discipline is hunters and eq. These two are a lot fancier then jumpers, so they require the horses manes to be braided, and the rider to be wearing correct show attire. In equitation, the judges pick apart everything, from the riders positon to the horses track around the jump course.
Hunters, is very similiar, the judges look at the way the horse jumps and the way the rider shows them off. In hunters it is very important that the horse picks up their knees and has a clean, round jump.
We measure the jumps in foot in hunters and equitation .
